Bob and Joy with children Jake, Gabriel, Salome, Moses and Chloe (Dec 2007)

Unprepared yet Willing

God often chooses to use common people like the Hubers to do work that they feel unprepared for.  He has given them and their prayer partners a vision and strong desire to serve needy children and also spread the gospel in Mexico.  God is blessing this work but there is no reason to give any credit to man.  We believe that if there is anything good in us, or anything we do, it is because of our Heavenly Father who is more powerful, more holy, more merciful, and more loving that we can understand.

A Calling to Serve in Mexico

Bob and Joy Huber grew up in Francesville, Indiana and were married in 1991.  In 1996, Bob started a payroll software company called Adaptasoft also in the small town of Francesville.  About 4 years later he felt God was calling him to dedicate his life to some type of missionary work and turned Adaptasoft over to his employees.  While Bob worked for FBi Buildings, he and Joy prayed and waited on the Lord for direction for two years.

In January of 2002, Bob reluctantly went with a work team for one week to an orphanage in Mexico.  Seeing the need of nearly 100 children without a father touched his heart.  Subsequent trips to the orphanage convinced Bob and Joy that God was calling them to serve in Mexico (more on the call).  They counseled with many and were encouraged to pursue God's call.  On January 1st, 2003 (exactly one year after Bob's first trip) Bob, Joy, Chloe and Salome moved to Mexico.  They were sent back to the same orphanage to teach Bible classes to the children and also research the possibility of their denomination starting its own orphanage in Mexico.

Starting an Orphanage in Magdalena

After serving in the orphanage in Imuris for one year, the Lord opened the way for their denomination to start it's own orphanage in Magdalena, a larger town just 20 miles further south.  The Hubers helped start Casa Vida y Esperanza, or House of Life and Hope, and served as its first directors for about 2 years.  The new mission grew rapidly and received a tremendous outpouring of support.

Leaving One Orphanage to Start Another

After serving in Magdalena, Bob and Joy moved back to Imuris and spent the next 6 months seeking the Lord's will for the future.  God again confirmed their calling to serve children in need and directed them to start yet another orphanage.  Sustained by the prayers of faithful supporters from their home church, the Hubers began working on starting another orphanage, this one to be independent and non-denominational.

Carefully and prayerfully, Bob, Joy and a small group of friends and family developed the Mission, Vision and Values .  A new Mexican corporation called "Grupo Camino Recto" was formed, together with a board of directors.  And by a miracle of God's grace, Timothy House opened its doors in June of 2007.  A year laters it serves 13 children ages 8 to 17.

A Growing Family

Bob and Joy always dreamed of having a large family, but never imagined it would happen this way.  They met their son Jake in the orphanage when they first came to Mexico.  Then it was a miracle that they were able to adopt Gabriel and Moses, who came while they were in the orphanage in Magdalena.  Add their two daughters plus the 13 children from Timothy House and you have a total of 18 children!  Often overwhelmed by the responsibility of so many with special needs, they covet your prayers that God will protect and bless the work.

The Need for Treasures in Heaven Ministries, Inc.

In order to help raise support and provide accountability for Timothy House, a non-profit US corporation called "Treasures in Heaven Ministries, Inc." was created together with a board of directors.

We invite others to partner with us.  There are many challenges to starting a new mission in a foreign land with limited resources.  It takes a team effort, faith and lots of love.  We trust that the Lord will protect and provide.

Financial and prayerful support is needed and appreciated.  For financial information click here.
